Welcome

Welcome to St Anthony's Catholic Primary School!

If this is your first visit to our website, or you are one of our current community dropping in to obtain some information, I hope your contact with us is positive and informative.

Our school is one of a number of schools dedicated to supporting families in developing, deepening and handing on our Christian faith. A faith that is as fresh and exciting as it was over two thousand years ago which still offers meaning for us in the twenty first century. At the heart of all we do learning how to live out that message of love that Jesus calls us to. Because this is something all people get wrong, at some time, we learn also to forgive, to get up and try again. Together with our priest, Fr. John and the parish of St Margaret Mary we prepare our children for their First Communion when they are in Year Three. Fr John is regularly in school saying mass or just being with our school community. When our children move on from our school we try to ensure that they take with them a faith, and a hope, that will enrich their future lives.

Our school works in partnership with our two catholic secondary schools, St George and St Anne’s. Catholic heads within our cluster meet regularly to plan and support each other in the task of forming our young people in values, which we believe, will lead to a more harmonious, peaceful society.

The school can rightfully celebrate its academic success. In 2007 one hundred percent of our pupils achieved level four in maths and science and ninety seven percent achieved level four in English. We believe that learning is not about children being passive recipients of information and ensure that children are actively involved, along with their teachers, in taking responsibility for their learning. Children learn at different times and at different rates but they are all of equal value and have their own gifts. We aim to make provision for them as individuals as well as members of a community.

The school has a leadership team made up of the head, deputy head Mrs Wall, key stage one leader, Mrs Moss, and a key stage two leader, Mrs Wood. We still have members of staff who were here when the school was first opened who, I am sure, have watched many pupils pass through our gates.

Like yourselves we want the best for your children and will work in partnership with you to achieve this.

If there is any further information that you think would improve our website please let us know as we want to keep you as updated and informed as we can.

May you be aware of God walking with you at all times.

With regards from

Mrs Marjorie Dean, Headteacher
